Masterpiece Monday!

I think I could be happy laying out on this beach right now. The water is so clear and the sand so white.

Fashion Fridays!

Monochromatic is the way to go, if you’re in a hurry and didn’t put an outfit together ahead of time, or if you want a classic look. You can’t go wrong with one color, and the color you choose does not have to match exactly.

If your closet is organized by color you should have an easier time choosing this look.

If you decide on a monochromatic look, remember to add a pop of color in one or more of your accessories. This will show that you did put some thought into it.

If you’re wearing all black, add a different color handbag or a different color shoe. Try something that is an opposite color to what you’re wearing.  You don’t want it to match, you want it to go together.

Monochromatic is the way to go!

Fashion Friday!

When I was growing up, I wanted to dress up all the time.  It didn’t matter the event, I wanted to dress up.  My mother would get so mad at me because I thought that I should wear my best clothes no matter where I was going. I couldn’t be like all of the other kids and wear my play clothes to play in. Nooooooo…..I always felt the need to dress my best.

I realized later that you should dress your best, but you should also dress for the occasion or you will feel out of place.  If you feel out of place you won’t feel confident.  Always ask what the attire is when you are invited to an event.  It will help you to make the right decision.  It is no fun to show up in jeans and a t-shirt and everyone else is wearing a dress and heels.

This means good casual. Consider a pair of dress pants and a silk shirt or maybe a loose sundress during the summer.  Or consider a maxi dress and a pair of sandals.

If Jeans are appropriate, then wear dark wash jeans with a Fashionable top. The appropriate shoes would be in the 1 to 2 inch range.

Here’s where the little black dress comes in.

Add a jacket according to your comfort level.

Accessories should not be over the top. Medium to high heels are expected.

Pull out the long dress or skirt.

Mid-calf is only appropriate if it is very elaborate.

High heels and sparkly accessories are expected.

Evening Glamour:

Start with a simple classic dress either long or short in a rich or dark color, maybe black, navy, burgundy, deep turquoise or deep purple.

Sleeveless styles have more glam, but short sleeve dresses look just as nice.

Then you can add the following items:

Strappy, high-heeled sandals or high-heeled shoes.

Add sparkling jewelry for excitement and glamour, soft colored stones for evening elegance or a fashion forward piece.

Other items to consider:

  • Add a beaded jacket
  • Wrap a long string of pearls around your neck to form a choker.
  • Add drop or dangling earrings
  • Add a rhinestone clip to your hair
  • Wear a sheer or lacy top
  • Wrap a gold contoured belt around your waist or hips (if it’s in fashion).

  • Wrap a beautiful shawl around your shoulders.
  • Add some glamour to your make-up and hairstyle. A glossy colored lipstick in a deep/rich or vivid color will add the WOW factor as will getting your hair styled in a more romantic style.

Wedding attire:

Don’t be that girl.  You know, the one that shows up obviously trying to look hotter than the bride or worse, in white.  This is the brides day so she should shine over everyone else.  You should dress according to the attire of the wedding, but absoulutely no white.

So don’t forget to ask what the attire is for your event and dress accordingly.
